Frequently Asked Questions



1.I’ve never been fly fishing before. Is that a problem? Absolutely not. I will assess your fishing experience over the phone and give you casting lessons and a basic course in stream fishing. This usually takes 1 1/2 hours and is considered part of your time on the river.

2.Will we be dry fly, nymph or streamer fishing? I will know which style of fishing suits your destination best and recommend such. However, if you prefer one type of presentation, I will work with you on just that.

3.Can I keep a fish for dinner? As a guide I practice catch and release. However, if the regulations on the river we are fishing allow you to keep some trout, that’s fine.

4.Are you CPR and or First Aid certified? Yes, as a NH guide I am required by the state to maintain certification in both of these areas.

5.Do you guide kids? Yes, I do. An adult must accompany anyone under the age of 18. If the adult is fishing, the rate is for 2 people; if not, the child is charged a full rate, but the adult is always present by our side and gains a great deal of knowledge in the process.

6.Do you take photos of my trip? Yes, and in fact I am a professional photographer published in several Fly Fishing magazines, so your day will be perfectly captured on film.

7.Do you spin cast or bait fish guide? No, I don’t.

8.Will we be using a boat or float tube? No we will be walking and wading.

9. Do you fish while guiding? No, my job to is put you in the best spot to catch fish and ensure your safety.

10.Do you require a deposit? Yes, a 50% deposit is required to reserve your trip. If you cancel prior to one week before your day of fishing, your deposit will be refunded in full. After that your deposit is non refundable but can be applied to a future trip.
